All Disputes Cannot Be Rationally Resolved

It is not logical to say that all disputes are able to be rationally resolved. If someone has very strong feelings about an issue, sometimes nothing will change their minds about the way that they feel. No amount of persuasion is going to make some people change their standpoint. Yes, these people may be ignorant if they won't change their views after being shown evidence to support a contrary claim, but none the less, we will always have ignorant people among us.

While I agree with your statement, I think a broad interpretation of what is "rational" needs to be addressed. Some people would argue that war is irrational. I believe it can be, if it is only used as a last resort. Examine the events leading up to WWII. Past attempts to convince Hitler to back down had failed and the Allies knew he had to be stopped. In this case, war was the rational response because failing to act would have caused more harm than good. So in this case, I would argue that the world's dispute with Hitler was resolved rationally.
