Brain in a Vat?
Today when we were discussing the idea of the "brain in a vat", it got me thinking about what is and what isn't. Is it really possible that someone could be creating all of the experiences we have? Personally, I don't think so. If we make decisions based on what makes us happy, then how could someone else be controlling us into doing exactly what we want to. My reasoning for this is that we also have experiences that are not happy, and they are different for everybody. Also, if we are just brains in vats, then all of us would just be fabrications of eachother's imaginations, which is very odd that we would all have the same people in our imaginations.

I've thought a lot about the whole "brain in a vat" too. How do I know it's not all just a dream? Maybe whenever someone dies they really wake up from this dream. But you definitely made some great points against the brain manipulation. I guess someone could say that whoever was manipulating your brain is making it seem like the people you are interacting with have the same experiences, but that's getting pretty hard core right there, and doesn't end up making a whole lot a sense in the end. Nice reasoning to prove that we really exist!
Although i do agree the brain in the vat idea is not likely its still impossible to completely disprove. I mean we do act in ways that make us happy but who decides what gives us the feeling of happiness?
